Two Toothed Door Snail

About 10 to 12 mm in length and 3 mm at widest point. The spiral shell shows numerous grooves or growth lines.

They live mainly in woods and hedges in leaf litter or among rocks normally hiding in crevices or beneath the ground litter.

When to see it
Most likely to be found in damp conditions or at night and can be seen all year round.

Life History
Emerges in damp weather and at night and climbs high up on bare surfaces to graze on algae and lichens.

Common and widespread in Britain.

VC55 Status
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
